My claim as a woman is that my difference must be considered
and that I am not forced to adapt to the male model.
Simone Veil
It is a core believe for liberals that all individuals should have a say shaping the world around them. This means we need open and inclusive democratic institutions that represent all people. Simone Veil lead the way by breaking down barriers for women in the male dominated French and European institutions and thereby helping women getting a voice in how the world around them is shaped. Gender equality is still an ideal we need to live up to. However, since Ms Veil’s presidency of the first elected European Parliament, many liberal women have been elected to this house of European democracy. In this interview series, we hear the experiences of women who have succeeded to be part of the European decision-making and understand what drives them to shape the world.
In this effort, the European Liberal Forum cooperates with #EllesFontBougerlEurope / #WomenMoveEurope program of Europa Nova. Elles font bouger l’Europe gives a voice to women to build the Europe of tomorrow, talk about their projects, highlight their actions, inspire and propose solutions to next generations.
