Mr. Wieland is a lawyer from Stuttgart, and a Member of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, the Committee on Budgets and a Substitute Member of the Committee on Petitions. You can see his personal page on the European Parliament here.
In the course of his parliamentary work, Rainer Wieland became an expert on the regulations governing European Political Parties and Foundations. He is currently working as a co-rapporteur together with Rnew Europe MEP Charles Goerens, in AFCO on the report on the application of Regulation 1141/2014. Rainer Wieland was furthermore co-rapporteur on the previous report on a first amendment to the regulation in 2018 together with S&D MEP Mercedes Bresso and he even accompanied the emergence of regulation 1141/2014 as a shadow rapporteur for the EPP Group in 2013 in the lead committee AFCO, known as the “Giannakou-report“.
