Basic Social Security in the 21st century

What does basic social security in the 21st century mean, and how can it be designed? The overall project aims to develop a common European understanding, discussing policy proposals like basic income theories and experiments, as well as innovative ways to reform social security systems from a liberal perspective.

This workshop aims to find a common narrative and structure for liberal ideas regarding modern social security systems. Thus, the participants from all over Europe with various backgrounds will highlight and discuss three general concepts, i.e. the Nordic, Central European, and Southern European concepts of social security that are implemented in Europe. Furthermore, participants will discuss new concepts and how future social security systems may handle the challenges of a more flexible society and how new concepts chime in with a liberal stance.

An event organised by the European Liberal Forum with the support of NEOS Lab.
