EU Mentorship Programme 2020

The EU Mentorship Programme provides political mentorship to liberal political activists in non-EU Western Balkan countries. The aim is for participants and their Mentors to work towards preparing the non-EU Western Balkan countries for the EU accession processes. It also aims to push the topic of EU enlargement beyond the simple ‘pro et contra’ arguments into more solution-oriented discussions.

The 2020 Programme is open for all policy advisors, parliamentary and party staff from non-EU Western Balkan liberal parties. In this Programme, the participants:

  • Acquire knowledge that influences their future political work, becoming more informed about EU requirements.
  • Bond with their EU mentors and fellow liberals from the Western Balkans, as well as representatives of ALDE/Renew Europe member parties while discussing their countries’ future in the EU.
  • Write national ‘reverse reports’, based on country reports and AAPs of the European Commission, where they offer realistic arguments in support of the Western Balkan integration in the EU.

The first training in this program is designed to do the deep analyses of EU Institutions and Integrations criteria, Rule of Law, Economics Development and liberal party stands in the EU integration process.

This event is organised by the European Liberal Forum (ELF) and is supported by D66 International/Stichting IDI and the Boris Divković Foundation.
